Using Correct Anchor Text In Your Back links

Backlinks A link (preferably one-way) to your website from another website.

One way link Website A links to your website but you are not linking back to WebsiteAs an SEO marketer it always amazes me when I see other SEO professionals screw up arguably the most important aspect of off-page optimization which is the anchor text in their backlinks.

Just so we are all on the same page, let’s go over some basics as I don’t want to leave anyone behind here.

Offpage Optimization Anything you are doing off of your website to maximise your SERPS

SERPS Search Engine Ranking Profile (in more simple terms, where your website ranks).

Keywords – A word of great significance. In search engine optimization terms, a work or phrase you want to rank highly for.

  1. If you did link back to Website A it would be called a reciprocal link which No Es Buenos for SEO!

Anchor Text The text used for the part that people click on to go to your website.

Example: This is a free SEO Training. SEO Training is my keyword anchor text

Problem 1

What most people do wrong, however, is put something like

  • Visit My Site

Or some other obscure text.

One of the most important factors for how high you rank is what is being said in your anchor text so if you aren’t making sure it’s your keywords you’ll probably never land on page 1 against the even moderate competition.

Just how heavily is anchor text weighed? Well, type Click Here into Google and you will see Adobe ranked #1 even ahead of ClickHere.com

Nowhere on Adobes site does it say click here. They are not trying to rank for Click Here and it has no actual relevance to their website.

So why are they ranked #1?  Because millions of people are all linking to Adobe with Click Here as their anchor text.

Problem 2

When people figure out just how important the anchor text is they tend to go a little crazy with it and then they end up keyword stuffing.

Keyword Stuffing The act of stuffing your keywords

In other words, if they want to rank for Buy Houseplants (yes I just randomly made that up). The only anchor text they ever use is Buy Houseplants.

What happens then is the search engines see that and go, that’s not natural because when other people are just naturally linking to you, they are not going to use your chosen keyword 100% of the time. If it doesn’t appear natural then you can actually lose rankings from it.

Best Anchor Text Practices

Use a 70/30 or even 60/40 split. In other words make Buy Houseplants your anchor text 60% of the time but the other 40% use long-tailed keywords such as Buy Cheap Houseplants, Where to buy houseplants, etc

Mix up your 40% however you see fit just make sure it’s diversified and you will see a huge increase in your rankings if you continue to build backlinks on a regular basis.

Purchasing A New Laptop

It’s that time of year again. The summer is winding to a close and that means colder weather, leaves changing their color and schools everywhere are about to open their doors. One thing that a lot of parents (and students) are reading is that school’s are beginning to require their students own laptops to use in their classes. But fear not, for I have compiled a guide that will make buying the right laptop much easier for you. And if you’re not going to school this fall, this guide should still assist you in your quest for a business or personal laptop for yourself or someone in need this holiday season.

Why are you Purchasing a new Laptop?

Maybe you’re one of the parents looking to find a laptop for their child to take to school this year, or perhaps you’re looking for a system that will give you a new edge at the office. The reason you are buying your laptop is going to determine what you’re going to need out of the new system. If your laptop is going to be using Computer Animated Design software such as you’re going to need a more powerful processor than if you’re merely using it for Word Processing or Internet-based research. Are you a hardcore gamer? Do you like editing images or creating videos? Are you a musician looking to get some better exposure? It may be best for you to jot down every possible scenario you could see yourself using the laptop before you read the next section of the guide, to be sure you’re getting everything you need out of the system.

Laptops come in all shapes and sizes.

Size does matter.

This is a characteristic that a lot of individuals overlook when purchasing a laptop, but the physical and size features of the laptop are arguably one of the most vital. Where the processor, amount of ram, and hard drive can be upgraded and replaced as requirements, features like the size of the laptop, the placement of its different input/output ports and it’s weight are all things that you’re realistically going to be stuck with after your buy it. Some things to ask yourself are:

How big of a screen am I going to want?

Am I going to be carrying this laptop around a lot?

How many peripherals are going to be attached to the laptop?

Am I going to miss not having the NUMPAD on my keyboard?

The size of the screen is going to directly affect the size of the laptop, so this question is important. If you are purchasing this laptop to edit images, create videos, play games or watch movies and television then you’ll likely need a big screen. Keep in mind that large screen laptops are heavier, and therefore if you’re going to be crossing a large campus on a daily basis you’ll want to consider that as well. The number of peripherals you well be attaching to the laptop as well helps narrow down what you will be using it for. The most important consideration is the number of USB ports you’ll have, as most equipment and tools connect to a laptop utilizing these ports. A printer that isn’t wireless, a drawing tablet, a wired or wireless mouse and a USB storage drive are all examples of devices that connect via USB. If you intend on connecting your laptop up to a monitor at any given time you’ll want to consider the Output connection on the laptop as well. Finally, one of the most overlooked characteristics of a laptop is the absence or presence of the NUMPAD on the keyboard. The NUMPAD is the sixteen button portion beside your arrow keys that various of resembles a telephone. Though it is possible to buy a USB powered external NUMPAD for a laptop, if you’re used to having one, it’s best to have it attached to the laptop itself.
